by Jason Birchmeier\nSinkane is an alias of Ahmed Gallab, a solo recording artist from Columbus, OH, who sings and plays numerous instruments (drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, et al.). His percussion-heavy style of music draws from a wide range of influences, most noticeably free jazz (e.g., Pharoah Sanders) and shoegaze (e.g., My Bloody Valentine). Born in Sudan, Gallab and his family fled to the United States when he was six years old. He made his full-length album debut in 2008 on Emergency Umbrella Records with Color Voice. Also in 2008 he toured as the drummer of Caribou and Of Montreal.
