简介:
A beautifully atmospheric neo-trip hop track, Far Beyond The Sun is the debut single by the stunningly-voiced 19-year-old Syann, from Dundee in Scotland. Four minutes of slow-burning, moody artful pop, from its evocatively mysterious opening lines – “They call me shapeshifter/I have never met a drifter like yourself” – it will burn itself into your consciousness.
Featuring a multi-layered lyric that speaks of ambition and the fear of opportunities lost, Far Beyond The Sun is an impressively sophisticated first offering. Syann says, “Far Beyond The Sun is about me doing what I think is right before I get old and I can’t do it anymore.”
Syann is the first artist to be produced by the Scottish-born, London-and-Berlin-based team White Label, whose 2011 bootleg remix album “Stolen Voices”, featuring radical reworkings of lost demos by the likes of The Supremes, David Bowie and John Lennon, earned much critical acclaim and radio plays from the likes of Lauren Laverne, Jarvis Cocker and Dermot O’Leary.
The undeniable vocal talents of this prodigious teenager are made all the more impressive given the fact that until the age of six, she refused to speak. “I love music,” she says. “I’ve loved it since before I could speak, but I was too shy to ever sing in front of anyone. So during my childhood, I would always run around to find a hiding place – then I would sing my heart out.”
Set to be featured on Q magazine’s website as their Track Of The Day in the week of its release, Far Beyond The Sun is the first airing from Syann’s debut album 'Night-Time', due for release early next year. We’re sure you’ll agree that it marks the unveiling of a major new artist.
https://www.syann.co.uk/
https://soundcloud.com/syann-music
https://www.facebook.com/Syannsmusic
