Jo Mango is a British alternative folk and acoustic band from Glasgow. Jo Mango is also the adopted name of the lead singer and primary songwriter of the group.\nJo writes the band's songs and is the unquestioned front woman of the group. Jo has been singing and writing her own songs since 1996, and first became noted for her performances at the Unplugged night in Jim's Bar of the QM Union.\nA multi-instrumentalist, Jo also accompanies "folk" legend Vashti Bunyan in her touring band playing flute, piano, kalimba and concertina.\nSince April 2006 Jo has been touring extensively, as the mainstay of Vashti's band, throughout North America, Europe, Australia and Japan. At home in the UK she also featured in the extremely unusual collaborative spectacle, the Zero Degrees of Separation tour, becoming an integral part of the band featuring Adem, Juana Molina, Vetiver and Vashti herself. This culminated in a Carnegie Hall show in New York in February, curated by the legendary David Byrne.\nIn the last year, Jo has also appeared as a solo artist playing shows across the globe, beginning with a session on Nic Harcourt's show 'Morning Becomes Eclectic' on Santa Monica's KCRW; moving through LA, New York, Australia and Tokyo; and most recently at SXSW in Austin, Texas.
