by Eduardo RivadaviaHeavily influenced by borderline death\u002Fblack metal bands such as Poland's Behemoth, Norway's Zyklon, and, earlier still, Americans Morbid Angel, Atakhama was founded in 2004, when Jyväskylä, Finland natives Simo Rahikainen (guitar), J-V Hintikka (guitar), Matti Honkonen (bass), and drummer Timo Häkkinen decided their current band, Funeris Nocturnum, had run its course. Seeking a fresh start to go with their new direction, they joined forces with vocalist Jimmy Salmi and signed with Woodcut Records, issuing their debut album, Existence Indifferent, in the black\u002Fdeath metal hybrid style in April 2005.
