by Eduardo RivadaviaOriginally formed in 1995 by vocalist and guitarist Tor Magne Glidje, Lengsel (which means longing' in Norwegian) was a progressive black metal trio rounded out by bassist Jon Robert Mjåland and drummer Ole Halvard Sveen. United by Christianity, of all things, they released a critically acclaimed debut album entitled Solace in 2000, but their career would be cut short when all three of them agreed to join fellow Christian proggies, Extol, a short time later. Several years passed, then, before the trio decided to record a second, less positively reviewed, Lengsel album, The Kiss -- The Hope, in 2006. But since they are still active members of Extol, no one can be sure whether Glidje, Mjåland and Sveen will venture out as Lengsel for a third time.
