Stars in Stereo was founded by megabuzz Hoppus pet project City (Comma) State’s former members Justin Siegel, Jordan McGraw, Keith Varon and Drew Langan. Their latest addition, vocal powerhouse Bec Holland, has rounded out the group’s alterna rock\u002Felectronic sound and propelled the new band onto a Used tour commencing this week with a full-length to follow. Jordan and Drew were nice enough to spare me a few moments of their time this week to help us learn what SIS is all about.\nAbout vocals "Bec" :\nRebecca "BECCA" Emily Hollcraft (born May 9, 1989) is an American singer\u002Fsongwriter and guitarist. Also known as Bec Hollcraft and BECCA-chan. As of 2012 she is currently the singer of the rock band Stars in Stereo.\n ------------\nNot many people in the music industry can say that theyve had a career similar to the expansive one of Portland native Bec Holcraft -- one that has spanned from one side of the Earth to the other in terms of recording opportunities for the cutting-edge rock artist. \nKnown as BECCA in Japan, Holcraft had already established herself as a viable rocker on the other side of the globe, having worked with such prominent names as hip-hop duo Bennie K (even releasing an entire collaborative work with them under the moniker BENNIE BECCA) and Blaise Plant of MONKEY MAJIK fame. Some years later, she decided to test western waters by first joining the popular Vans Warped Tour in 2010, performing for American and Canadian fans alongside other popular rock artists like Anarbor and Mayday Parade. Fast forward two years since then and you see Ms. Holcraft working alongside Justin Siegel, Jordin McGraw, Keith Varon, and Drew Langan to form one of the newest powerhouse rock groups of the decade, Stars in Stereo.\nFans of BECCA and City (Comma) State who listen to Stars in Stereo for the first time, having heard of them through these related entities, may at first be surprised to hear just how much more of a hard sound the band produces by comparison to its members past projects. Opening track "The Broken" wastes no time in getting new and old fans alike to understand that they are of a sound that is just as cutting-edge as the generation which they represented. Within 45 seconds of "The Broken," Holcraft is already proving how fantastic a rock vocalist she really is, rivaling mainstays of the industry like Hayley Williams. Meanwhile, the instrumentation is lush and suitably hard-rocking, arguably leaving that much more of an impression on listeners than any of the members past projects have been able to do even within just a single portion of a single song, denoting just how far each band member must have come as individual artists since their humble beginnings.\nThroughout the course of their self-titled debut album released earlier this year, Stars in Stereo never strays from the feeling that they had wished to convey about their work since their opening track, though they do experiment with instrumentation a tad bit throughout subsequent tracks in a way that is professional and that sounds great alongside Holcrafts never-erring, forever spot-on killer vocal work. "All Together" is a great example of this. Within the tracks three minutes and twenty-two seconds to make an impression, it manages to make multiple amazing ones, featuring a sweet symphony and slight electronic synth which meshes together incredibly with whatever rock elements had already been established by the band during what would be its initial impression. Arguably, each and every track on the record is radio-ready while remaining true to what the band truly is: an impressive collective of true rockers having come together to release something very special. Other notable songs on the album include "Red Eyed Romance," "Lie Down," "Queen of Catastrophe," and "Dealing Secrets." The alternate version of "Every Last Thing" is especially stunning.
