Graham Lea-Cox was born in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and began his musical career as a boy-chorister in the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, United Kingdom. After completing High School in Zimbabwe he entered the Royal College of Music in London on a Scholarship to study conducting (with Norman Del Mar, London), violoncello (Antonio Butler, RCM) and organ (Richard Popplewell, RCM and later André Marchal, France), before going on a scholarship to Oxford University.
