The Wheel started as a vision that Ørjan had as a kid: He dreamed of playing lead guitar in a cool rock band, where the singer could actually sing, the drums were groovin' and the bass rumblin' like an earthquake. When he felt he had his chops together, he moved to the big city in search of the ultimate players who had the same desires and musical tastes as him. The first piece of the puzzle fell into place when he was introduced to a Russian bass player by his girlfriend. They talked and found that, despite their cultural differences, they had a lot in common. After a couple of years of trying to get something goin' they decided to record a demo of some of Ørjans songs, with drummer Alessandro Elide. They entered Cult Studios in the summer of 2007. The next step was finding a competent singer who had the pipes and could deliver a strong performance. They found him singing in a local Led Zeppelin tribute band. His name was Jan Erik Salvesen.
