Singer \u002FSongwriter \u002FActor\nMarcus Paul James's musical journey began in Brooklyn, New York, where he cultivated a unique perspective as the son of a DJ. He was raised in the church, surrounded by rows of tuned organ pipes, but is equally informed by the Luther Vandross albums his mother would play at home. Marcus is currently a Broadway performer, starring in Tony award winning shows such as "RENT' and "In the Heights" while pursuing his singer\u002Fsongwriter ambitions.\nAt age 13, Marcus began writing and recording music using three humble tape recorders. Of course he has upgraded since then, peaking the interest of talented industry figures such as producer Akira Shelton.\nAkira approached Marcus with the idea of collaborating. After hearing Akira's tracks, Marcus knew a musical match was made. While working with Akira on other new artist projects, Akira suggested collaborating on an album in the Soulful House vein. A year later in February 2009, they their first EP, "Electrik Love."
