His family's interests, however, were in the direction of country music, rather than Allen's chosen style of hard rock\u002Fheavy metal. After playing with numerous unknown bands, Allen joined Symphony X in 1995. He was the replacement for original singer Rod Tyler and has been with the band ever since.
