A native of rural Virginia, McClanahan grew up exposed to a rich, eclectic musical mashup of backwoods church music and Top 40 icons like Alanis Morissette and Jason Mraz. At the age of 10, she began to pick up a pen to create songs; 3 albums, a couple of GMA "Music In The Rockies" wins and countless writing sessions later, the result is an artist who sonically weaves organic and commercial sounds together in a way that is uniquely audible. \n\nBut that wasn’t always the case. “When I first moved to Nashville at 19, I felt this huge pressure to morph into who I thought other people wanted me to be, and it really messed with my head,” McClanahan shares. “Luckily, God used that period of my life to take me on a spiritual journey of learning how to be comfortable in my own skin. Because of my experience, it’s allowed me a platform to teach others about doing the same.”
