Drawing inspiration from the Format and Bright Eyes, Sugg began recording tunes in which he sang and played every instrument. Soon after, Sugg settled in Murfreesboro, TN, and began self-releasing EPs under the Backseat Goodbye moniker. The full-length debut Dressed Up Like Dreams was released in 2008.
