Buddy is an indie pop group from Los Angeles, California formed in 2006 and named after the lead singer.\r\n\r\nBand members\r\nBuddy - vocals, guitar \r\nWill Golden - bass (Gary Jules, Cougar Town) \r\nAl Sgro - vocals, shakers, tambourine, bells, drums (Gary Jules, Cougar Town) \r\nMichael Jerome - drums (John Cale, Blind Boys of Alabama) \r\nFil Krohnengold - vocals, keyboards (Golden Smog, Duncan Sheik, operation aloha) \r\nPercy Haverson aka. Percy Galore - vocals, guitar (Knifeyhead) \r\nHolly Conlan - vocals, keys \r\n\r\nHistory\r\nBuddy (last name Humberston) grew up in Portland, Oregon, developing an interest in music by the age of 10, and forming his first band by the age of 16.\r\n\r\nHe left Portland to study English at Providence College in Rhode Island, after which he moved to Austin, Texas where he began again to focus on music. Buddy joined local band Piltdowns, supporting bands such as Spoon, and gaining interest from local record labels.\r\n\r\nIn 2002, Buddy relocated to Los Angeles, California, continued writing his own songs, and performed his first solo show at the Hotel Café in July 2004. He also played at one of his friend Greg Behrendt's "Bring the Rock" nights at Largo, where he met musician and producer Robbie Rist. Together they produced and recorded Buddy's first EP, self-titled, which was self-released in November 2004.\r\n\r\nLocal KCRW DJ Tricia Halloran began playing "Salt Point" from the EP and a radio station in Denver picked up on the cover of Kelis's "Milkshake", which helped to boost popularity. Buddy was offered deals with UK record labels, but he chose not to sign and instead continued promoting his material and playing live shows.
