To begin: my name is Sean Fried (pronounced Freed). I've listened to EDM for as long as i can remember. I started composing (if you want to call it composing for that time period) around october of 2002. I started with a mostly midi program called Fruityloops. My creations were... not exactly fantastic, but a violinist must screech at first as well. Two years went by of rearranging other artists' songs and creating odd and wierd 'tracks', if you will. Then came the first breakthrough. Fruityloops had reached version 4 and was on it's way to becoming a widely used composition tool, and was beginning to be used as more than a midi program. With this I created two songs that ended up becoming the first two tracks of my first cd release: 'Drizzle'. The following weekend the entire cd was hastily composed and finished. While this cd was nowhere near professional quality, it was a milestone in my composition career and was mused at by friends. The fever was high afterwards. Writing nearly 11 unreleased cds and tons of unreleased singles, (an estimated 200 songs all together) none of them seemed to please my ear enough to be released. One cd (Never Wanna Age - released in mid 2004), however, was released but quickly drawn back after a few days. Due to technical difficulties I had to reformat my computer, losing all of these songs, and had to start working from scratch again. The only song that was saved was track 5 from the 'Never Wanna Age' cd entitled 'Play'. In 2005, the next release, and untitled EP, was handed out to friends in an attempt to find out if I should continue composing or not. The feedback was mostly positive, which led me to create the cd 'Pattern of Thought'. While most of the cd was under par, a few tracks had stood out. A redone version of 'Play', the dance mix of 'Truth', and a hard trance remix of 'Highlighter'. To my surprise, this cd started a small fanbase. More toiling and endless composing followed soon after. In early 2006, the cd 'Psychiocropolis' was released. Tracks 'Takedown', 'Psychiocropolis', 'Underbrush', 'Farewell on Welfare', and a remix of TonyK's 'Lift' all received attention and applause. At this time I began working on a theatrical sounding project that had a story being written to the music. The cd was never completed, but the tracks 'Loss', 'Cause and Effect', and 'Hope' remained favorites of mine. Then four singles were released: 'Thunder', 'Sewers and Roses', 'Rain', and 'Dark Gray', respectively. Two unreleased singles were composed shortly after ('Sewers' and then 'Roses'). I gathered the favored songs from the unfinished theatrical cd, 'Takedown', the interlude, and 'Psychiocropolis' from the 'Psychiocropolis' cd, the four recently released singles and the two unreleased singles. In 2006, with these songs, I constructed my most recent cd release: 'Black and White'. As a celebration of this milestone cd, I remixed 'Play' (Play 2006) and added it as a bonus track on some cds. On January 1, 2007, the biggest milestone to date occured. After FreeBass Society 3007, at the afterparty at the PopBar in the New Orleans Frenchquarter, Dj Double A spun the single 'Thunder'. Once again as a celebration, I hastily composed 'Anthem 2007'. I have big expectations for the year 2007. Look Out.
