It will be available on vinyl and CD format in record stores across the U.S., as well as iTunes.\nWhen Jakes' first album, Lo-Fi Matter, was released in late 2005, Pulse of the Twin Cities drew comparisons as broad as Bob Dylan and BRMC saying that, "Jakes is intent on laying down some truly dirty rock and roll here...Lo-Fi Matter is a great starting point". Rift Magazine added, "Jakes displays great range and talent as a song writer". The first track off the album, "Lie Awake", was subsequently used in the short film "Under The N", with Jakes also performing the film's score.\nJakes temporarily moved from his home of Minneapolis, MN, to San Francisco, CA, in early 2008, where he formed Tyler Jakes & the Bootleggers. Shortly after forming the band, the Emmy-award winning Discovery Channel program Deadliest Catch featured "Gamblers Off The North Pacific Shore", a song Jakes had written specifically for the show.\nIn May 2008, Jakes released his second album, Rocking Hoarse Calypso. Vernon Reid (of the Grammy-award winning, Living Colour) described Jakes’ songwriting as being “gritty and witty”. The remainder of 2008 and 2009 saw Jakes touring the west coast, with S.F. Bay Area Rock proclaiming, “He seems to truly appreciate the crowds that come out and puts on a show fit for thousands.” In November, 2010, Jakes released his third album, Burning Down The Underground. It was very well received, picking up airplay on over 150 stations across the U.S. and Canada, charting multiple times in the Top 20. Jakes promoted Burning Down The Underground with two U.S. tours stretching from August 2011 to February 2012.\nJakes is now set to release his fourth album, Evil, on March 5, 2013. “Out Of It”, with its QOTSA feel and Foo Fighters-esque big chorus, is a supercharged opening number. “This Is A Robbery”, featuring the trumpet of Jason Marks (of Malamanya), feels something like the Pixies scoring a spaghetti western soundtrack. Minneapolis virtuoso Steve Clarke lends his bari-sax to a Gogol Bordello meets Morphine surf-punk tune, “The Wolf”. Sinister vocals and dark grooves continue on side two of the record with "Fifth Fang", a twisted tale of being strung out on the road. Twelve songs deep, Evil covers a lot of territory, seamlessly blending garage rock, heavy blues\u002Fpunk, and a tinge of dark gypsy folk.\nEvil will be released on vinyl, CD, and iTunes on March 5, 2013.
