\nThe nazis defined as Entartete Kunst (Degenerate Art) all the works that did not fit in the artistic parameters that Hitler defended. Picasso, Chagall, Kandinsky, Grosz, Klee and many others became degenerated artists.\nEntartete Kunst, the band, was born in Barcelona in 1996, although it was not until 1999 when they recorded New Noise, an eight track demo. The musical press described New Noise and the music of Entartete Kunst like something halfway between the British New Wave and the American No Wave, with bands like Joy Division, The Cure, Bauhaus, Sonic Youth, Pixies or Placebo amongst its main references.\n \nBy the end of 2002 they recorded their second demo: Where Have They Been?. This recording reflected the progression of the group towards a noisy sound, mixing some pop and new wave influences. Where Have They Been?received excellent critics, being played in some radio programmes, and the group arrived at the semi-finals of the European Contest Emergenza´03.\n \nThe AVUI newspaper chose Where Have They Been? as the winning proposal of the second demo contest Rock&Clàssic–Senglar Rock 2003. Because of this, the band played in july of 2003 in the Senglar Rock festival with Los Planetas, Els Pets, Aina, Lax'n'Busto, Èlena, Karma Police…\n \nEntartete Kunst also arrived at the semi-finals of the Centre Garcilaso acoustic contest, and played in the festival of new values, Tendencias 2003 with 12Twelve, Madee, Philippes, El Columpio Asesino and many others.\n \nThe fashion designers Spastor proposed them to play in the Barcelona Fashion Week, but it was not possible due to technical problems. Entartete Kunst was the support band of the Canadian band NoMeansNo in Barcelona, arrived at the semi-finals of the Fmic04 and ended the year playing with the Basque group Delorean in La Claqueta Sonica festival.\n \nIn December 2005 the band recorded their third demo. Mixed by Mike Alemany and mastered by Yves Roussel, the mini LP In a Lonely Place shows the evolution towards a more intensive and aggressive sound. In the meantime, drummer Nacho Maure joined the band, and wit this line-up the band toured Germany in late December.
