Pants Velour creates its own brand of New York City hip-hop, pop, rock and soul music to form a sound that has been likened to the Beastie Boys, The Roots and the Black Eyed Peas. They have been dubbed "New York hip-hop\u002Frock fusioneers" by TimeOut New York, and their genre-bending music has been described as "party-ready hip-hop" by the Washington City Paper, a "unique brand of hip-hop, R&B and pop" by USA Today, and a combination of "today’s pop-soul and yesterday’s hip-hop" by the Washington Post. They were named to New Music Seminar's 2013 “Top 100 Artists on the Verge” list.
