简介:
Them The Sky are a collective of close friends who all share a passion for music. They have developed their sound drawing upon influences as far-field as musique concrete to contemporary, shoegaze and ambient, which they utilise to create something unique among Brighton's eclectic music scene. Many of the band members have a strong musical background, from classical guitar to advanced music technology studies, allowing their sound to take influence from a range of genres. They use an array of instruments and techniques to create a style of music that combines catchy ambience, classical inspired melodies and driving drum beats. Their ideal gig would be The Postal Service supporting Sigur Ros. \nAfter a string of highly anticipated and packed out shows at The Green Door Store, The Hope, The Blind Tiger Club, Camden Proud Galleries, NWfA Festival and Playgroup Festival, the band have recently released their self-recorded debut E.P. available for free online and CD. Recorded in 'the attic' of their house, a place of experimentation, which hosts the instruments, equipment and atmosphere necessary to create their sound. What began as housemates enjoying spending the creative process together (often spending hours crafting the perfect synth sound for a particular song) has developed into a full live show.\nThe self recorded\u002Fproduced\u002Freleased and named EP received an overwhelmingly positive response and has really put Them The Sky on the Brighton music scene map. Off the back of the EP's success they have played a number of successful shows including, Playgroup Festival, ArtNoise, SOURCE New Music at the Dome, LOUT Brighton Rocks and have supported EXITMUSIC for a ONE-INCH BADGE show. They have recently been The Argus' 'Download of the week' and had their song GSS played on BBC Introducing.\nTheir second EP is due out early 2013 and is host to a few very exciting new songs.\n“ChiLIVE's band of the week are post-rock giants THEM THE SKY. Beautiful soundscapes and hauntingly mature structures permeate their music. Moody ambiance and thoughtful construction remind us of some of the best of late Radiohead, and Swedish stars The Knife. Check them out; they're certainly worth it.” - ChiLIVE\n"One of the most exciting new bands to come out of Brighton... with soaring Post Rock and Arcade Fire glimpses – ones to watch for sure." - Nice Weather for Airstrikes Records\n"For those who like guitars, keys, and a little bit of post-rock ambience then look no further than Them The Sky. With their complex multi layered sound, they will bring you something unforgettable to listen to." - Art Noise
