Fox & the Bird is an eclectic folk ensemble with rotating instruments and vocalists. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, they have been pinned as alt-country, folk rock, neo-folk or low-fi Americana, but regardless of the genre, the group focuses on telling expressive stories through image driven and culturally explorative songs. \r\n\r\nThe arrangements utilize changing dynamics, unique instrumentation and layered harmonies to create songs you could sing along with the first time you hear them. Fox and the Bird is a family of song writers from assorted musical backgrounds who come together to create music that is both intricate and simple. \r\n\r\nThe ingredients include traditional folk instruments like the mandolin, violin, guitar and banjo, as well as marriaci influences of trumpet and accordion, sparse, intentioned percussion, and a small choir of vocalists. The layered vocal harmonies and shifty musical structures help create a sound that is collective and relevant. \r\n\r\nThe band's roots grow out of the home-grown Dallas folk scene, beginning in a living room, and the members consciously bring a uniquely Dallas-perspective to their work, focusing on the idea of "home" and the human ideal of belonging to a particular place.
