Benedikt Kobel is born in Vienna and is a tenor at the Vienna State Opera.\nHe finished his singing studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with distinction. He is the winner of the competition "Jugend musiziert" and the international competition for the classical song in the Viennese music association. After starting his professional career in 1986 as a member of the opera studio of the Vienna State Opera, he became a soloist at the Vienna Volksoper in 1988 and returned to the Vienna Staatsoper as a soloist in 1991. On February 16, 2011, he celebrated his thousandth performance singing. He has performed at the opera house of Sydney, the Semperoper in Dresden, Leipzig, Cologne, Frankfurt, the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, the Zurich Opera, the Grazer Oper, the Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto and the Arena di Verona.
