THE GROTESQUERY is 'old school' 90's style Occult Horror Death Metal!! The band was formed in early 2009, when musician ROGGA JOHANSSON {PAGANIZER, RIBSPEADER, DEMIURG, BONE GNAWER, REVOLTING & others...} and vocalist KAM LEE {BONE GNAWER, THE SKELETAL, BROKEN GRAVESTONES, GRAVE WAX, & formerly of bands: MANTAS\u002FDEATH, MASSACRE, DENIAL FIEND} started talking just after finishing up work on their Horror\u002FGore Death Metal band BONE GNAWER's debut album in 2008.\nThey had a several talks about creating a new band that would base it's lyrical themes on the dark supernaturual and creating a sort of 'concept' type album. With lyrics based on stories by H.P. Lovecraft's Macabre Tales, Ghost stories & poems by Ambrose Bierce & Edgar Allan Poe, the occult, the paranormal, the supernatural, all the morbid horrid terrors hidden in the dark places of the earth and those things that go bump in the night! \nAnd to do it as a project with the type of music highly influenced from the brutal style of early 90's death metal bands - with a touch of the avant-garde and an unorthodox and experimental feel.\nAnd those conversations had become a reality in the form of the band called: \nTHE GROTESQUERY!\nThe band unleased their debut album intitled: TALES OF THE COFFIN BORN in 2010 on Cyclone Empire Records and quickly became a force to be recognized. \nKeeping with traditional 90's "old school death metal style and sound" and forming a haunting atmosphere and chilling story line, Kam crafted a gothic horror tale within his lyrics around ten dynamic, intense, and morbidly atmospheric death metal music tracks written by Rogga. \nWith the fantastic addition of bass player Johan Berglund from the band THIS HAVEN and the intense percussion skills of Brynjar Helgetun of the band LIKLUKT. THE GROTESQUERY was born!\nNow in 2012 - THE GROTESQUERY shall release their 2nd full length album: THE FACTS AND TERRIFYING TESTAMENT OF MASON HAMILTON - TSATHOGGUA TALES. \n11 TERRIFYING TERROR RIDDEN TRACKS OF OLD SCHOOL DEATH METAL INSANITY! \nThis album's story concept picks up from where TALES OF THE COFFIN BORN left off. This time taking place in the insane asylum known as the Arkham Institute for the Mentally Ill. \nThe concept focuses around a man named Mason Hamilton and the horrific expeirences he survived while investigating a strange uncharted island. \nForgoing the dialog intros this time around and placing the listener directly inside of the insane mind of Mason Hamilton - THE GROTESQUERY takes you on mind melting death metal musical trip thru the insane testament that Mason shall tell. This album drops you deep into the asylum as Hamilton relives the nightmare he expeirenced thru each track, getting deeper and deeper into Hamilton's subconscious and revealing morbidlly what Hamilton himself may have become.
